Prime Minister Rumen Radev and India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar outline economy, high technologies and space exploration as promising areas of bilateral cooperation

Prime Minister Rumen Radev and External Affairs Minister of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar discussed the prospects for the further development of bilateral cooperation at a meeting in the Government Headquarters today. Economy, high technologies and space exploration were outlined as potential areas.

 

The meeting reiterated the excellent political dialog between Bulgaria and India and expressed a mutual wish to bring more pragmatism into bilateral relations.

 

The Prime Minister underscored Bulgaria’s achievements in the sectors of Information Technologies (IT), digital transformation and the development of an innovation ecosystem that is conducive to investment in high-tech production and in research. Further, he noted that Bulgaria ranks among the six EU countries that were selected to build Artificial Intelligence factories (AI factories) with European funding.

 

Focal points of the discussion were the prospect of cooperation in the development of space technologies and in space exploration. The shared position was that dynamic changes in the world, including the faster development of AI, put new requirements to competitiveness and call for stronger cooperation and investment in sectors with high added value.

 

The Prime Minister and the External Affairs Minister discussed potentials for a more active partnership in filmmaking and in show business. Rumen Radev noted that Bulgaria becomes an increasingly preferred location to shoot international film productions which promotes the development of a number of industries that are related to them.

 

Relevant issues on the international agenda were likewise discussed at the meeting.
