Since the outbreak of the war, Bulgaria has been supporting Ukraine consistently and staunchly. The support will continue in the postwar recovery of the country for it is of great importance both for Ukraine and for the wellbeing of the entire region and of Europe. This is what Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov said when spoke with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They met in Rome that hosted the high-level 4th Ukraine Recovery Conference.
Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov vowed Bulgaria’s willingness to make a positive contribution, to the extent it can, to all sectors where our assistance is needed. The Prime Minister specifically underlined Bulgaria’s vast experience and potential in the sector of construction and infrastructure. Also, he emphasized Bulgaria’s key role in the Black Sea region for the country’s strategic position puts it in the focus of different initiatives for the security of ports and shipping.
At the meeting, Rossen Jeliazkov and Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed Bulgaria-Ukraine energy cooperation. The two countries will work to strengthen their cooperation in the energy sector. Emphasis was placed on energy connectivity, diversification of energy sources and the need to take a common approach to meet the challenges, especially during the winter months.
