A large-format government-to-government meeting of Bulgaria and Italy will be held in March next year. The agreement on that was reached by Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni who met today in Rome. The two prime ministers discussed matters related to the upcoming meeting of the European Council this month. They placed emphasis on the competitiveness of the European economy and on the mitigation of the impact of the green transition in this context. The discussion focused, inter alia, on defense cooperation. The war in Ukraine and migration were other two issues that Rossen Jeliazkov and Giorgia Meloni discussed at the meeting.
Rossen Jeliazkov is in Rome today to attend the official ceremony to present the start and route of the cycling race of Italy – „Giro d’Italia 2026“. Bulgaria has been chosen to host the opening (La Grande Partenza) and the first three stages of the race in 2026. This is a great shared success for Bulgaria and Italy, Rossen Jeliazkov emphasized. The Prime Minister described the event as a great opportunity for regional development and tourism and for the promotion of sport and of Bulgaria as a destination. In addition, this shows confidence in our ability to organize and host such vast world events, the Prime Minister said further.
