Fair elections are a cause that is greater than any of us, than any minister, than any government, and we support this cause. After we talked with Stoil Tzitzelkov, we thought that it was the right decision so that we may protect the vote of the people and maintain trust in the government’s effort to provide conditions for holding fair elections. This was stated by Prime Minister Andrey Gurov to journalists as he commented on the resignation of the Deputy Prime Minister as a member of the caretaker cabinet.
The Prime Minister was firm that the target of the attack against Tzitzelkov was the government and the holding of fair elections. For us there is something that is far more important than the political battle and more important than any short-term benefits that could be reaped therefrom, Andrey Gurov said further. The Prime Minister reiterated the commitment of the caretaker cabinet to hold fair elections and emphasized the citizens’ trust in this process.
