Ivan Vasilev has long expertise in the sectors of economy and finance and in the design and implementation of economic policies and technology projects.
From 2023 to September 2025, he was Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality, for the Finance and Health Sector, and provisionally for the Public Works Sector.
Prior to that, for four years, Ivan Vasilev was a member of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Association BESCO in the position of Director for Policies and Strategies. He is a co-author of amendments to the Commerce Act regarding the establishment of a new type of company – a variable capital company, and of amendments to encourage the employment of highly skilled experts from abroad. The focus of his work was the transformation of the country’s economy towards high value-added industries.
Previously, for five years Ivan Vasilev was a member of the Board of Directors of Comrade Cooperative, the first Bulgarian decentralized autonomous organization. Ivan Vasilev has many years of experience in the development of software in Artificial Intelligence and blockchain technologies.

Ivan Vasilev holds a Master’s Degree in Finance and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of National and World Economy.
