Gamma readings in Bulgaria are unchanged

Radiation monitoring systems in Bulgaria have not recorded any change in gamma readings nationwide.

 

As regards media reported increased gamma readings on the site of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) the Ukrainian  regulatory authority announced that no change has been observed in the operating condition of the Chernobyl reactors and other facilities.

 

Insignificant increase has been measured of the intensity of the dose from the gamma area in the closed zone. Experts from the Environmental Center explain such fluctuations in the readings with the damage of the uppermost soil layer by the movement of heavy army vehicles in the closed zone and the discharge of contaminated radioactive dust in the adjacent air.
